It doesn't feel like spring but tomorrow is in fact Opening Night. The first game of the 2013 season will be played down in Houston as the Texas Rangers will face division foes the Houston Astros, the Houston Astros will be entering their first season in the American league. The Rangers will be trying to get back to the playoffs, but there will be a HUGE part of the 2012 Rangers not returning to the 2013 Rangers, Josh Hamlinton signed with the Angels over the off season, he will be moving out West to join Trout, Pujols and Trumbo. The Astros well let's face it they will finish with the worst record in the major league this year, most likely will finish with close to 100 loses if not more..
With all that being said.. I would love to share my predictions of the up coming season.. My predictions of who will finish were, who plays in post season, the World Series Champs and Award winners! I'm sure half of these will be wrong.. who knows maybe I'll get more right then I think... so without further a due here are my 2013 Predictions!
American East
1. Blue Jays - A lot of new guys coming to the Jays this off season.. to many to name.. but ask the Marlins they can help you out.. I think the Jays have enough offense and adding Reyes won't be a bad thing at all. Will the new look Jays make the Playoffs, for the first time in well a LONG TIME...
2. O's - Buck will have his team ready to play again this season. Will want to show that last season wasn't a fluke for the O's . It will be intresting to see if the O's can live up to the O-Mazing season they had last year..
3.Tampa Rays - They are always right that when September comes around.. and once again they will be close to the top of the East when September comes. The Rays have one of the best young rotation in the Major League. David Price will have another strong season! The Rays also add Will Myers the #1 prospect from the Kansas City Royals over the off season.
4. Red Sox - New skipper in town for the second straight season for the Red Sox. Player to watch out in Boston will be Jackie Bradley Jr. Still not ready to be a force to push for the playoffs.
5. Yankees - Injuries, Injuries and Injuries .. A-Rod.. Tex.. Grandy.. Jeter.. all dealing with Injures to start the season. The Yankees are diffently not young anymore. Will Cano be traded by the deadline to get some prospects to start to rebuild the farm system.
American Central
1. Tigers - Miggy, Verlander and Price.. what else is there to say.. oh they added a veteran in Torii Hunter, who in my mind will help Austin Jackson out a lot. Tigers should win the Central by 10-15 games, if not more.
2. Chicago White Sox - Finished right behind the Tigers last year. Still have Paul Konerko, Adam Dunn in their lineup.. Chris Sale made a name for himself last season and one of the top young lefties in the league.. Jake Peavy had a great season for the Sox. Pitching could carry them.
3. Cleveland Indians - Terry Francona is the new skipper of the Tribe.. I think he makes this team much better just by being the manager. The Tribe added Nick Swisher off the off season and also Michael Bourn. This team might surprise a few people this year.. Will be dangerous in a couple years if not next.
4. Twins - Twins are coming off a 96 lose season.. back to back 90 plus lose seasons.. The Twins really needed to add pitching this off season.. and they really didn't add a proven ACE.. It will be interesting to see how the rotation does this season.. The Twins do have Mauer and Morneau back.. both seeming to be healthy as they have been in awhile specially Morneau. The key for the Twins score more runs then the pitching staff gives up. Player to watch is Rookie Aaron Hicks who will be having his 1st major league at bat on opening day in the bottom of the 1st inning.
5. Royals - They are in WIN now mode. Will see if it works.. They traded away their #1 prospect Will Myers to get Big Game James Shields. The Royals could easily finish above the Twins.. But could also very easily finish below them. It's the Kansas City Royals people anything is possible
American West
1. Angels- How don't they win the West this year.. added Josh Hamilton to add a bat behind or in front of King Albert. Mike Trout is back but a bit heavier, will that hurt or help the Angels.. We will find soon out on his first stolen base attempt. I just don't see how the Angels don't win the West.
2. A's - Good rotation coming back.. Won't surprise anyone this year.
3. Rangers - Losing Hamilton hurts. Pitching still there.. but who will step up with Hamilton and Young gone
4. Seattle - Won't finish last. Still have King Felix, so they got that going for them!
5. Astros - The question is how many loses will they finish with this season.
National League West
1. National - Strassburgh will be pitching all season.. The Nats also added the lead off hitter they have been missing, acquired Span from the Twins, he will be the lead off man and center fielder. Best rotation in the Majors if healthy..
2. Braves- No Chipper but one of the best if not the best bullpen in the Majors. Also the Upton brothers join together in Hotlanta this summer!
3. Phillies- They added a lead off hitter in Ben Revere and he will make a lot of Philly fans happy!
4. Mets- Losing Johan Santana right before the season start is a huge hit.. and David Wright might not be at 3rd base come opening day, due to a injury he got during the WBC.
5. Marlins - Will you have Stanton still... that's a plus.. other then that.. Marlin fans it's going to be a long season.. good think you will have the Heat playing late into June!
National League Central
1. Cardinals - Same old same old.. will be fighting for the Central title again this year.
2. Reds- Still have Voto and Philips and one of the best closers in the league in Chapman who can throw some HEAT!
3. Brewers- second season with Prince.. Braun will have to carry the Brewers again. Adding Lohse will help the rotation.
4. Piraties- Should be able to have a winning season this year or come close to a winning season.
5. Cubs- Not sure what to say about the Cubs.. other then Cub fans.. maybe it's finally the year!
National League West
1. Dodgers - Adding Grienke to an already pretty good rotation will just make it even better. Matt Kemp will have another great year. Gonzalez should look pretty good in Dodger blue and he will love the short fences in left and right at Dodger stadium.
2. Giants - Will fight with the Dodgers all summer long.. Giants still have a great rotation.. and they didn't really lose anyone from their World Series team from last season.
3. D-Back- Could make a push to win the West.. but losing Justin Upton will hurt them.
4. Rockies- Tulo, Cargo and Cuddy .. there you go Rockies.. oh Helton too!
5. Padres - Don't know much about them.. can't really name a player off the top of my head.. plus they won't beat out the Giants or Dodgers so no worries! `
