As we are getting to the half way point of the 2013 season and the Twins just got sweep by the Flori.. Urgh Miami Marlins.. We were SWEEPED by the Marlins.. This was the Marlins 2nd sweep of the season.. 2nd.. Us and the Mets have been swept by the Marlins this season. The Twins now sit at 34-40 and 7 1/2 games out of first place. The finish of the 2013 season could see a lot of new faces by the end of the season and see some old faces get traded before or by the trade deadline, which is 34 days away as of today.
Let's look into the future for the Twins.... and Let me tell you it looks BRIGHT!!
In 2014 I will say this and this will be my first bold call for the Twins, 2014 will be the year of Sano. Miguel Sano will be the Twins Opening Day third baseman and will win the job out of Spring Training. Sano will be one of the cornerstone for the Twins and the future of Twins baseball. Miguel Sano could easily be the next Miguel Cabrera, he is built just like Miggy.. the same body frame pretty much and is going to be 20 years old when he makes his Major league debut. Miguel Sano will most likely be the Twins 3 or 4 hitter for years to come when he does make his debut next season. Sano was drafted by the Twins at a young age of 16. He has shown so much RAW power and has pretty good speed for such a big dude.. His defense has really improved over the last season and half. The Twin fans and beat readers and other scouts are drooling over how good Sano could be in the Major League.
The next prospect that could make his Major League debut along with Sano in 2014 could be Second baseman Eddie Rosario. Rosario like Sano is in New Britain right now playing for the Twins Double A team. The Twins really haven't had a everyday Second baseman in well ... it's been so long I really can't remember the last everyday Second Baseman we had.. the last one could of been Todd Walker... or Chuck Knoblauch ... yes I have to go all the way back to name our last everyday Second baseman. Eddie Rosario is a prefect fit for the Twins at Second base. He is more of a contract hitter with good speed and great guy for the Twins to slide into the top of the order or have at the bottom of the order to turn the lineup over in games. Rosario was drafted as an outfielder so he has a strong arm.. A great thing for a Second base man to have... he has also shown he can have strong range and is pretty solid with his glove. Hopefully Rosario will be making his Major league debut sooner then later for the Twins.
There are a few more protects that could be in the Twins everyday lineup by 2014 or 2015 depending on what happens the rest of the way this year.
here are a few other names to keep a close eye on over the next season or so....
Bryon Buxton - Just got promated over the weekend to Single A. He is a STUD... I would call him an 5 tool player. He will be fun to watch over the season to come.. I expect him to start the 2014 season in AA. (Major League Debut : end of 2015.. start of 2016)
Max Kepler - Just started his season with the Cedar Rapids Kernels and so far he is done nothing but open some eyes with his start of the season. He has only 22 at bats this season so far.. but hitting .312, has 7 hits and 5 of his hits have gone for extra bases. He is still very young but could open some eyes and could finish the season in AA. (MLB Debut: 2017 or 2018)
Travis Harrison - Harrison is another young talnted Thrid baseman in the Twisn farm system. He is right now down in Cedar Rapids. He is having a great season. He was named to the All Satr game. Has 12 Homeruns this season. I could really see him finish this season also in AA.
Adam Brett Walker - ABW is down in Cedar Rapids along with half of the Twins young talent. He has shown some good power this season so far. He is also opening some eyes for scouts. Most scouts have compared him to Stanton of the Marlins. He could end up moving to First base or in the other corner outfield spot in Left Field. He could also end up in AA depending on other roster moves. (MLB Debut : could be a September call up in 2014 .. if not he could be one in 2015)
my last look into the future for the Twins is looking at what could be the Lineup for the Twins on Opening Day 2015 .. yes I'm going to do my best to predict the Opening Day Lineup for 2 season from now....
Buxton - CF
Rosario - 2nd
Mauer - C
Sano - 3rd
Arcia- LF
Morneau - 1st
Colabello - DH
Hicks - RF
Florimon - SS
